Prepare a new reseller account for its first live domain order

domain-nexus, resellers

Prepare a reseller account, billing integration and support workflow before accepting your first live domain order. A successful API connection confirms authentication; it does not establish pricing, registry eligibility or completion of a paid registration.

01 Set up the commercial account

  1. Confirm the reseller company, contact email, account status, assigned offer or tier and settlement currency.
  2. Review the published TLD catalogue and the operations available for each extension. Check registration, renewal, transfer and any optional feature separately.
  3. Fund the account through its supported invoice or wallet workflow when required. Confirm usable funds from the recorded balance and holds.
  4. Choose the appropriate published connector for WHMCS, HostBill, Blesta or FOSSBilling, or plan a reviewed custom API integration.
  5. Issue a credential for that installation, with the required permissions and actual web and worker source addresses.

02 Validate the order journey

Start with a read-only profile check and availability query. Confirm the account identity returned by the API. Then review a catalogue or quote response against your intended retail prices, currencies and terms.

Use a controlled domain order with the correct end-customer registration contacts and required registry fields. Preserve the local order reference, upstream operation ID and original request. Follow the result until the provider confirms registration and the expected expiry. Do not use a new paid order to investigate an uncertain first one.

Test nameservers and any advertised customer management feature. DNS, forwarding, privacy and EPP access remain subject to the domain, provider, plan and permissions. Check that your customer instructions lead to the actual installed interface.

Common questions

Can I sell every extension displayed by my billing platform?

Only offer extensions and terms available through your assigned upstream catalogue. A locally created TLD entry does not enable an upstream service.

Should the reseller's company be the registrant?

Use the intended end customer's accurate registration details unless the reseller itself is registering the domain for its own use. Operational account ownership and registrant identity are separate.

When is the account ready for production orders?

When authentication, pricing, registry data, pending-order recovery, synchronisation and support escalation have been checked for the installed connector and intended products. Keep a clear reference for each completed check and a way to pause new orders if a provider problem occurs.
