Choose hosting tools and limits for each product

hosting-suite, resellers

Product features decide what customers can do from Manage Account. Build each product around its intended service level, then verify that the selected control panel provides those functions. A feature checkbox cannot add a capability that the remote server lacks.

01 Open the product configuration

  1. Enable Hosting workspace and the relevant platform under Workspace > Suite settings.
  2. Open Account Manager > Features and choose Configure features for the product.
  3. Enable Hosting tools for customers.
  4. Select the required functions in Domains, Email, Files, Databases & development, Security, Applications, Reseller, Site care, Metrics and One-click login.
  5. Review product limits, including mailbox quota and application-installer options where shown.
  6. Save, then open a representative service as a customer or through Open account workspace.

02 Match the tool to the service

For a basic hosting plan, begin with domain information, mailboxes, databases, resource usage and the sign-ins you support. Add file editing, DNS, cron, SSH or reseller functions only where they belong in that plan and are supported by the provider.

cPanel has additional tools beyond the common five-panel set. Optional components such as WP Toolkit, Softaculous, CloudLinux PHP Selector or a backup plugin must also be available to the account. Inspect What the suite can do on the platform card when comparing providers.

A product that sells a single application uses Application settings > Customer tools instead. Its Essentials, Business, Complete and Developer starting sets are application-plan profiles, not ordinary hosting feature templates. Keep the application experience focused on that website.

03 Review access and changes

WHMCS account-user permissions and suite access rules still apply after a feature is enabled. A customer may need permission to manage products, or separate permission for single sign-on. Check effective access with the actual user, not only a Full Administrator.

Allow account changes on the server controls writes across the suite. With it off, a correctly configured tool may show its data but refuse changes. This is useful while inspecting a new connection, but it is not a replacement for choosing appropriate per-product functions.

How do I confirm that a product feature policy took effect?

Reopen the product and check the selected switches. On a service, verify both a permitted action and a function you intended to withhold. When copying a whole product policy, review every changed field because the copy can include renewal and pricing settings as well as hosting tools. Document plan differences in your sales and support material.
