Preparing a Site Builder online store for its first order

development

Our standalone Site Builder offers store features on eligible packages. Before adding products, confirm that your subscription includes ecommerce and that a supported payment provider can serve your business and country. A website-builder subscription does not itself approve a merchant account.

01 Build the store in a controlled order

  1. Open the builder attached to the correct domain. Complete the business identity, contact details, currency and other store settings presented by that product.
  2. Add a small representative product set first. Enter accurate descriptions, prices, images, stock rules and variations, checking the product allowance in your plan.
  3. Organise products into clear categories and create delivery, returns and contact pages appropriate to your business. Obtain professional advice where you need help establishing legal or tax obligations.
  4. Connect an available payment provider through its supported onboarding process. Use test mode or a sandbox where offered, and keep merchant credentials out of page content.
  5. Configure the shipping regions, delivery methods and tax settings you actually need. Test an address you serve and one you do not serve so the checkout handles both correctly.
  6. Connect the domain, publish the website and confirm HTTPS works on the public store and checkout.

02 Place a controlled test order

Test product selection, variations, stock changes, coupons where used and the final amount. Follow the payment provider's approved test procedure. Confirm the customer confirmation and store notification arrive, and that the order status matches the payment result. A checkout success screen alone does not prove the payment was captured.

03 Prepare the people running the store

Decide who checks orders, dispatches goods, handles refunds and updates stock. Give each person only the access needed for the job where the product supports separate users. Keep a record of products and operational settings independently from the live editor.

What should I collect when a Site Builder checkout fails?

Record the step, product, delivery region and non-sensitive error. Check the gateway's own transaction record before asking a customer to pay again. Review unsupported currencies, unavailable delivery methods, stock rules and incomplete merchant verification.

Use the features present in your particular builder and plan. Site Builder, Weebly, SitePad and WordPress stores use different interfaces and integrations, so instructions for one product should not be applied blindly to another.
