Configure WooCommerce's Direct Bank Transfer method when customers should place an order and then pay your business account outside the website. This is a manual payment workflow: the order is not proof that the bank transfer has arrived.

01 Prepare clear payment instructions
Confirm the business bank details, accepted currency and the reference customers should include. State the expected payment window and how the order will be handled while waiting. Use only account details intended to be shared for receiving payments; never enter online-banking passwords or authentication codes.
02 Enable and configure the method
- Open WooCommerce > Settings > Payments and locate the offline payment methods.
- Enable Direct Bank Transfer and open its Manage settings.
- Set a customer-friendly title, description and payment instructions.
- Add the approved account name, bank and relevant account or routing details.
- Save and place a controlled test order.
- Check the order-received page and customer email for accurate, readable instructions.
Will WooCommerce check my bank account automatically?
The core Direct Bank Transfer method does not automatically confirm deposits. Orders normally wait On hold until you verify payment through your bank. A separate reconciliation integration would need its own documented setup and should not be assumed from the payment-method name.
Can I rely on a transfer screenshot?
Verify the cleared incoming payment in the actual bank account using the order reference, amount and currency. A screenshot or a customer's claim is not a substitute for confirming receipt. Do not ship solely because the customer reached the order confirmation page.
03 Process confirmed and overdue orders
After matching the cleared payment, move the order through the correct fulfilment status and record the non-sensitive reference. For overdue transfers, contact the customer through your approved support process and follow the store's stated cancellation policy. Check stock handling before cancelling a reservation.
04 Maintain the account details
Review the instructions whenever bank details change and test the new email output. Restrict who can edit payment settings, because an unauthorised account-number change can divert payments. Keep a record of the previous and new approved configuration privately, and investigate unexpected changes promptly.
