Scheduling a WooCommerce sale price

wordpress

Schedule a sale price when a product should use a discounted price during a defined period. Confirm the store timezone, affected products and interaction with coupons so the public offer matches what checkout charges.

01 Prepare the offer

Record the normal price, sale price, start date, end date and the products or variations included. Check the store's configured timezone and agree how the advertised dates should be understood by customers in different locations. Keep a copy of current prices before a bulk campaign.

02 Set the scheduled price

  1. Edit the product and open its pricing controls.
  2. Keep the regular price accurate and enter the intended sale price.
  3. Use the Schedule option to set the start and end dates.
  4. For variable products, review and save the sale values on the intended variations rather than assuming the parent changes every option.
  5. Update the product and verify the saved dates.
  6. Test the public price and cart total when the sale begins and when it ends.

Why did the sale not start at the expected time?

Check timezone, saved dates, WordPress scheduled-task health and stale page or product caches. A low-traffic site with an unreliable cron arrangement can delay scheduled work. Investigate the scheduling and cache layers rather than repeatedly rewriting prices without recording the cause.

Can coupons reduce the sale price further?

Depending on the coupon restrictions and any pricing extensions, a coupon may also apply to a sale item. Test the exact campaign combination and set exclusions or individual-use rules where appropriate. Do not assume a displayed sale badge means all other discounts are disabled.

03 Verify customer-facing details

Check product listings, variation selections, cart, checkout and any product feeds. A cached banner can advertise an expired offer even after the checkout price changes, so coordinate promotional content with the price schedule. Test a product outside the campaign to confirm that a bulk action did not affect it.

04 Close the campaign

After the sale, confirm the regular price is restored and remove outdated promotional messages. Keep the campaign record for customer enquiries and reconciliation. If an incorrect live price caused orders, review those orders through the store's agreed customer-service process rather than silently editing historical order amounts.
